Electric Utility Oversight
The electric utility industry is the responsibility of the House of Representatives State Affairs Committee and the Senate Business and Commerce Committee.
All legislation related to electric utilities must originate in this committee of the Texas Senate.
Some cities, like Austin and San Antonio, own their utilities which are regulated by local authorities. Cities also have some jurisdiction over electric companies. If you have a problem with your utility, you may want to inform the mayor and city council.
